The Roaming Parrot

Rescue List                                   Store List                                    Blog                            Research

The Roaming Parrot started visiting rescue and adoption organizations across the country the summer of 2013 to start gathering data for our project.

The immediate goal and mission of The Roaming Parrot (TRP) is simple and basic: We are trying to objectively learn as much as we can about the avian community’s vast network of rescues, sanctuaries, foster systems, adoption organizations and bird stores. We want to make this information available to the public so that you can easily search for rescues based on a variety of criteria that are important to you, whether you are a beginning parrot owner looking for your first parrot or a seasoned parrot owner seeking a rescue to financially support. Even avian veterinarians and other parrot professionals can find quality information on participating facilities that can provide a starting basis for best practice development for your institutions or to help rescues network with one another and place parrots in emergency situations.

Inclusion is voluntary, but we hope to see this information do wonderful things for those participating facilities. Since we think this will be entertaining and engaging, we’ll also be taking this trip to the screen as a documentary series to bring awareness to the plight of parrots and the dire needs facing our increasingly populated rescue community. Follow along this summer as we post blogs, photos and video blogs about our journey and the wonderful people who are doing so much for our feathered angels
