We currently have 100 rescues listed in our directory. If you are aware of a rescue that we do not have listed, please use the Submit-A-Rescue form we have linked on the page. Ok, moving forward.

Each listing has a few basic facets: Location, contact information, website information, and nonprofit information. Some places have requested that we omit their specific address for privacy reasons, as a lot of places operate out of their personal homes. If you are interested in a rescue, please contact them directly using the information in the listing.

Facility Types

Each listing includes a 'type' with a possible of 3 different answers: Foster, Facility, or Sanctuary. This addresses how each facility is set up - if they are listed as Facility that means they operate out of one central location and may or may not use a small amount of foster families to care for their birds. If a facility is listed as Foster, that means they do not have one centralized headquarters and they generally do not have any one place where birds live - instead they rely on foster families to care for birds until the bird(s) find a home. Sanctuary means that the facility is the last stop for pet birds - sanctuaries do not adopt birds out, but rather keep the birds until the end of their natural life.

Guidestar

Each listing also includes Guidestar information. Guidestar is a website that helps a consumer do due diligence on a nonprofit organization. It also benefits rescues by allowing them an extra level of transparency to donors. By clicking on any of the Guidestar links in a rescue profile, you can access their Guidestar page which will offer you many things, including information such as: EIN of the nonprofit, nonprofit type, current and previous 990 forms, a breakdown of expenses and income, reviews from other Guidestar users about that have had previous experience with that organization.
